I had recently gone through a new breakup the day I wrote this. You can hear my voice crack because I was actually crying while I was recording it. I take the blame throughout the song and feel like I’m becoming the villain of the story. But then you get to the bridge, and there comes this point where it’s like, ‘I know you’re going to be happier with someone else, and that’s the most painful thing in the world for me.’ That’s what makes the song so heartbreaking.
