The 1975 consists of Matthew Healy (vocals/guitar), Adam Hann (lead guitar), George Daniel (drums), and Ross MacDonald (bass), all of whom are from Macclesfield in Cheshire, England. The four band members, now based in Manchester, met in Secondary School and began playing together as teenagers.The eclectic four-piece band have amorphous drifts between brooding art rock, crisp electronica, dancefloor R&B, and 80’s gloss pop, as well as lead singer Matthew “Matty” Healy’s stories of lust, intoxication, and the unabashed grittiness of modern youth. Common themes in their lyrics range anywhere from dysfunctional relationships, to the failure of modernity.Throughout 2012, The 1975 released multiple EPs, which sparked the start of their careers. The following year, 2013, their self-titled debut album took the world by storm. From 2014 until 2015 the band’s focus was on touring, though they did reveal through photos on social media that their next sound would reflect a departure from their previously black-and-white aesthetic, and this time, they embark on their music career to release this whooping track titled “When We Are Together” which is here for your pleasing audience and Free MP3 Download on our platform, Mixloaded.com.
“When We Are Together” is the final song included in The 1975’s forthcoming album ‘Being Funny in a Foreign Language’.
It is an acoustic, melancholy folk song that is themed around the breakdown of Healy’s relationships, and the empty aftermath of such an event.
It was recorded at Electric Lady in downtown New York in May 2022, and was the final song to be recorded before “Being Funny in a Foreign Language” was sent to distribution.
When he finished recording “When We Are Together”, Healy claims his body went slack, and he didn’t listen to it, instead opting to go home.
Despite speculation that the track is about Healy’s former partner, FKA Twigs, he confirmed to Pitchfork that it was not specifically about one person.
“This record in particular spans a lot of relationships. And if you’re in a relationship with a creative person, there is always a dynamic there.
Some of the song’s lyrics were revealed during Pitchfork’s cover story about The 1975, and are:
“The only time I feel I might get better/Is when we are together,”
“‘I’m better at writing’ was just a way to get you biting/Oh the truth is that our egos are absurd”
“I thought we were fighting, but it seems I was ‘gaslighting’ you/I didn’t know that it had its own word.”
It is currently scheduled to be released alongside the album on October 14th, 2022.
